In my eyes Junya Watanabe is the king of collaborations(while we’re on the subject), its by no means all he does in order to bring his brand above the rest, but what he does do alongside others is done with the best in mind. I was lucky enough to hear Watanabe speak some years back about his first collaboration with Levi’s, his thoughts around the decision to make the capsule range were simply based on the fact that he wanted to design denim, and wanted to do it the best way possible, and who else does it better than Levi’s. It’s obvious this mindset hasn’t changed for the Japanese designer, teaming up this season once again with Levi’s, Trickers, The North Face and Pendleton, each the leader in their field, but allowing Junya Watanabe to create the outdoor inspired collection he so desired.

Distressed Leather and a purpose made fragment patch adorn the authentically styled jackets. There is alot of discussion about what makes a successful collaboration, and for me there is just one answer, genuine collaboration! Neighborhood and Hiroshi Fujiwara are long time collaborators and friends giving this project a head start already, and as with all of Fujiwara’s collaborations, they stem from a personal interest and style.

Menswear Designer Thomas Hart is attempting to bring a prominent sub culture back to the fore. In addition to designing a collection that fit the culture, Hart did his best to present imagery that defined his creative direction as well.

In order to do so Hart turned a side street in Paris’s Marais district into its old punk inspire self. Beers, cigarettes, pizza, and camera set-ups were in full effect at the shoot. Hart explained that the collection and lookbook is 45% glam rock and 25% Japan. David Bowie was even referenced as an sight for inspiration.

Yesterday was surely a day the world will remember forever. June 25th will forever be etched in our minds as the day the King of Pop, Michael Jackson has passed. The world sits today with heavy hearts as we realize our beloved pop icon has gone so suddenly.

He was 50 years old and was rushed to the hospital yesterday after suffering a heart attack at his LA home. He was a legend, famous almost all his life. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones, especially his children.
